Oh Susanne! What can I say about this creative soul other than she has an artist’s mind. She took her very first mosaic workshop ever, last October in Austin- my Master Dress Class. She has been a mosaic addict ever since. So all of my mosaic newbies out there who have been interested in making a mosaic dress but have never done mosaics before- no worries, you are in good hands!

From Texas she followed me to Tucson, where she made her second masterpiece.

This being her third Master Class, I had to come up with yet another unique dress substrate, to keep her challenged. She is a great student and a visual learning, just like me. The process that I teach, is step 1: collect your “palette”. Step 2: layout your “palette” into a rough sketch. Being her third Master Class, she had step 2 already figured out when she stepped off the plane.

Step 3: get to class and begin mosaicking your form with the instructor, me!

Moving right along… Art is about choices, they are “your” choices and I am just there to help guide you through the process. Susi just goes with her own  creative flow.

Susi loves the community that we have all built around these dress workshops or art retreats!  We all learn from each other and have a hec of a good time doing so.  Her next Master Class will be Mexico in March, can’t wait to see what she mosaics next…  And, as an added bonus, Susi is hosting a workshop at her Virginia studio in August and has included all of my students to be part of this wonderful experience. Limited spaces, so let me know if you are interested.
