A TRUE STORY

A Contemporary look at mosaics through a female lens.

I love everything Mid Century Modern, and this new work is definitely influenced from my hours of looking through art & crafts from that time period. I understand this new work doesn’t look like what I am better known for which is a more dimensional mixed media mosaic. But, this is an evolution from all the hours and new techniques I have acquired over my lifetime into a new body of work that reflects where I am in my life now & moving forward.

My concept for this new series is to collect them as a complete series to be displayed on the wall in any configuration that fills the space, creating a much larger piece of art.

Here is just 1 example of how I see them hung together as a 15 panel grid in a Corporate setting.

Here are a few of the pieces before grouting. I wanted to give this series short but cute names. I am having way too much fun with this work. I hope you are enjoying them too!

So believe it or not, this piece was inspired by all the beautiful colors I purchased in glass for the backgrounds of my Native Americans. I was looking at my stack and pulled out some precut geometric shapes and started laying them down.

The first 2 images are from my American icon series, the next 6 images are my “rough sketches”, or how I layout my design before I start gluing things down. Yes, this work is grouted, and the grout also tells part of the story.

Stay tuned for lots more and some larger pieces as well!
